Interior design cost in Sofia: 6 factors behind the price

What shapes the value of a furnishing project and how you get an individual quote

From the team at COZY. Design·Interior ideas

The price of an interior project is never a random number. It depends on specific factors you can check yourself before choosing a studio.

The question “how much does interior design cost” has no single-number answer. Every furnishing project is different, because it depends on the space, on the way of life of the people who will use it, and on the level of detail they expect. In this article we explain honestly which factors shape the price of a project, without quoting figures, because every quote is prepared individually after a conversation with the client.

Square footage, number of rooms and level of detail

The first thing that affects the amount of work is the floor area itself. A larger space means more drawings and more decisions on floors, lighting and furniture. But area alone does not tell the whole story. An apartment with five small rooms needs more planning than an open space of the same size, because every room has its own function and has to be thought through separately.

The level of detail also weighs a lot, and with us it is always complete. We never deliver a concept-only project, because visualisation is at most 20% of an interior designer’s work. The rest is a technical, multidisciplinary profession: technical drawings for every element, furniture construction, budgeting, ergonomics and the psychology of space. The more of these parts are included, the more hours of work stand behind the project, and they decide whether the interior will work in real life and be built without surprises.

Visualisations, timelines and project style

Realistic 3D visualisations help the client see how the space will look before the renovation starts. The number of rooms visualised and the number of variants for each also affect the workload. If you want to see more than one direction for the living room, that is a normal request, but it adds to the production time.

Timelines are another factor that is often underestimated. An urgent project needs different organisation from a project with a normal timeline. Urgent orders usually put more load on the team, and that is reflected in the quote.

The style of the project has an indirect but real effect. A minimalist interior with few elements sometimes needs more precise planning precisely because there is nowhere to hide an imperfection. A rich style with many textures and custom furniture, in turn, needs more research into materials and suppliers.

How COZY. Design prepares an individual quote

The process always starts with a conversation. We ask about the floor area, the number of rooms, the lifestyle of the people who will live in the space, and your expectations on timing. Then we do a site visit if the project is in Sofia, or we review drawings and photos remotely if we work online with a client from another city.

The next step is to define the scope together with the client. It is always a full project: technical drawings, furniture construction, budget, ergonomics and space planning, and the visualisations are part of it, not a replacement for it. Only then do we prepare an individual quote that clearly states what is included in the price and the timeline for each stage.

Before you sign a contract with any studio, it is worth asking a few specific questions so you know exactly what you will get.

  • Confirm whether the project includes technical drawings and drawings for custom furniture.
  • Check the timeline for each stage, not only the final deadline of the project.
  • Ask how many design revisions are included before they are charged extra.
  • Find out whether the studio also offers supervision during execution, or the project only.
  • Ask whether the project comes with a budget of materials and suppliers.

Design across Bulgaria, turnkey execution in Sofia

An important clarification that we keep strictly: we do design and consultations for clients across Bulgaria, entirely online if needed. Turnkey execution, meaning full delivery of the project with a team and suppliers, we offer only in Sofia.

If you are outside the capital, a full design project does not leave you without support. We give recommendations for proven furniture makers in the larger cities in Bulgaria and can put together a budget with materials that are in stock and that you can buy locally, for example in Plovdiv, Varna or Burgas. This way the project can be built by a local contractor of your choice, with materials you can actually find near you.

If you want to see what the process looks like in practice, take a look at our services and completed projects. And if you are still wondering where to start, our interior design studio in Sofia is available for an initial conversation with no commitment.
