Hyperzon

For the interior design of the Hyperzon office building in Sofia, specialists in digital marketing and branding across markets on three continents, we had an intriguing brief: to bring life into a building made up of 70% polished concrete across floors, walls and ceilings, 17% windows and 13% latex-painted walls.

The catch is that the concrete must not be damaged and has to be protected: few places in which to express the life we wanted in the design, and plenty to work around.

Acoustics as the core design challenge

But the first problem was not the look and the beauty; it was how to build the right acoustics for a normal working environment in this echoing space, using acoustic materials, while still achieving a sense of warmth and the playfulness this modern building needed.

Acoustics are paramount for the concentration of the people working in the office and for clarity during calls with partners, vital when 15–20 people spend 8 hours a day in one room. We solved this core case with help from our partners at DECIBEL.bg. All the artworks and panels on the walls and ceilings are in fact acoustic panels.

Good design attends to every sense

We believe good interior design is design that improves the whole environment by attending to every sense: touch, warmth, softness, sound, the right level of light, function, and, of course, it fills the eye without compromise.
